Singletrack 6 2015 Sneak Peek

The downhill bike world has its eyes on Whistler’s Crankworx, and yet there’s a totally unrelated race that has just run its course for the year.  (You can see the 2014 winners here.)

The Thompson Okanagan Singletrack 6 is a biker’s opportunity to Ride the West – 6 host towns, 6 singletrack races, in 6 days.

The organisers, as per usual, are shaking things up for the 2015 instalment, and as such not many details have been confirmed for next year’s stages. What we can tell you is that Kelowna, Penticton, Merrit, Kamloops, Silverstar, Salmon Arm, Apex and Sicamous are all in the running for a host community, (with Kelowna airport as the visiting competitor’s recommended destination). Each leg of the tour is about 40km on average, with an average descent of 1200m. And, of course, they’re one after another.

You’ll get every kind of surface to ride – shale, hardpack, slick rock, plus a variety of technical downhill. Needless to say, this is not for beginners, though there is something for everyone.  Yet this is more than just a race series – it’s a labour of love. Each course is user-maintained, so not only is it in great shape, but you can bet the local riders have handpicked the optimal run through some breathtaking landscapes in some of the most beautiful areas in Western Canada.

the 2015 Singletrack 6 will be taking place July 26th through August 1st. While that sounds like forever away, you’d best get a wriggle on (as your English granny might say), because there are only 400 places available for this unique experience. Oh, and here’s where you can register.  Don’t say we never did anything for you.
